Shamilya Woods (Candi)
Shamilya Woods, commonly known as, "Candi" was born and raised in Chicago, IL on the West Side. She graduated from Taft H.S., a Chicago Public School. She received her Bachelors Degree from Bradley University in Elementary Education and received her Masters Degree from American College of Education in Education Leadership.
She taught kindergarten and first grade for 8 years in the Chicago Public School District (CPS). She ventured out from CPS and spent two years with CICS Avalon Charter school as a first grade teacher. She is currently a Master Teacher for the UNO Charter School Network. She motivates, inspires and pushes teachers to be the best they can be.
Throughout her life she battled low self-worth and not believing in herself. During her career as an educator, she has found that many young girls do not know their worth and they underestimate their ability to succeed in life. Her desire is that girls, teens and women in general know that they are worthy of whatever God has for them. She wants them to always have confidence and know that they can acheive whatever they put their minds to. This is what led her to write a book. She believes that words have power and when you say things out loud, things begin to change you begin to believe what you're hearing. And if you believe it you can receive it. When reading this book, it should move you. M.O.V.E, Motivated , Optimistic, Valued, and Empowered. Let the words bring about change within your life. Be pushed into living out your purpose and dreams. Remember that life means to live not exist. When you read this book make sure you are reading it aloud. Go forth and live your life!
